I've been somewhat successful in reaching many of my lifes goals as an artist - albeit short of much financial success - mostly due to the fact that I have had other priorities that required me to work a 9-5 job all my life and haven't had the time to invest in my work significantly. I have gained a small fan base and collaborated with artists whom I respect very much. This to me is the biggest reward I've gotten out of the life of an artist up until this point.
Right now I'm working to align my love of music, tarot, and art together into something never done before. There are two parts to this project that will come together at the end.
The first part of this is the BOU tarot card deck:
This project is to create one full 78 card tarot art deck with the classic Rider-Waite artwork infused with the artwork of Blind Owl Underground. The cards will also be able to be blown up for poster art prints. That makes a deck of tarot cards to sell and 78 full sized art prints that will each be designed using the art I have created up to this point in my life infused with the original Rider-Waite tarot art and some new art as well.
The second part of this project is the concept album:
I’ve been working on a concept album that will align nicely with my tarot card artwork project. It’s an instrumental psychedelic hip hop album where I’ve sampled old, obscure 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s occult horror movies and infused them with hip hop music that I've created. This is a project I've been working on more lately than photography, but has been under construction for years. One of the songs is a track I composed almost 10 years ago for example.
That's the gist of the project. I'll be posting bits of my progress right here. Here's a little sample of the cards. I'll post links to the music later on. So far I have 3 songs basically completed. I would like to go back through them and touch up any areas that need it before I link you guys to those. After I'm finished with the project I'll be having a show for everything. Details for that will be posted nearer the end. Thanks everyone for joining me on this magical journey!
